I have to give credit where it is due. University of Mississippi punter Mac Brown who started a lemonade stand since he was in seventh grade is one way to give back to his community.
Mac decided to raise around $500 dollars this year to find a cure for ALS which is affecting the dad of a close friend of his who has Lou Gehrig's disease.
Mac is amazed that thanks to the power of the internet, he has raised nearly $50,000 dollars to find a cure for the disease that claimed the life of former New York Yankees first baseman in 1941.

I take it that there were sources of finance that went beyond lemonade sales?
Can you explain what you mean by "punter" in this context? To me, a punter is either someone who propels and steers a small flat-bottomed boat on a river or a layer of bets at a racecourse - which of these did you have in mind, or is it something else entirely?

A punter in American football is a player who kicks the football to the other team when the team that the punter plays for has the duty to kick the football or pigskin as it is nicknamed to the opposing team who receives the football and can make a fair catch or attempt to run the ball back to the other teams end zone or goal line.

@Deepizzaguy I have to say that American football is a complete mystery to me! It strikes me as an utterly bizarre sport, and boring in the extreme with the same thing happening over and over again and constant breaks in the action. No wonder they need cheerleaders to keep the crowd interested!

@indexer I would rather see bowling since knocking down pins is fun.
