Day 44
Luke 11:14-28
Luke 11:14 And he was casting out a devil, and it was dumb. And it came to pass, when the devil was gone out, the dumb spoke; and the people wondered.
15 But some of them said, He casts out devils through Beelzebub the chief of the devils.
16 And others, tempting him, sought of him a sign from heaven.
17 But he, knowing their thoughts, said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and a house divided against a house falls.
18 If Satan also be divided against himself, how shall his kingdom stand? Because ye say that I cast out devils through Beelzebub.
19 And if I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your sons cast them out? Therefore shall they be your judges.
20 But if I with the finger of God cast out devils, no doubt the kingdom of God is come upon you.
21 When a strong man armed keeps his palace, his goods are in peace:
22 But when a stronger than he shall come upon him, and overcome him, he takes from him all his armor wherein he trusted, and divides his spoils.
23 He that is not with me is against me: and he that gathers not with me scatters.
24 When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walks through dry places, seeking rest; and finding none, he says, I will return unto my house whence I came out.
25 And when he comes, he finds it swept and garnished.
26 Then goes he, and takes to him seven other spirits more wicked than himself; and they enter in, and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first.
27 And it came to pass, as he spoke these things, a certain woman of the company lifted up her voice, and said unto him, Blessed is the womb that bare thee, and the paps which thou hast sucked.
28 But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it.
Everything we do is questioned by someone. It doesn’t matter if it’s good or not. People will question and accuse you of a diabolical purpose.
Jesus did something good. He cast the demon out of a man, and the people accused him of casting out devils by Beelzebub, or the devil. In reply to the people’s accusations, he told them a parable about a strongman and a thief. He then told them what would happen to the person a demon was cast out of if the person didn’t do anything to prevent more demonic possession.
Parables are earthly stories with heavenly meaning. When Jesus told them parables, they could relate to them, being familiar with what Jesus spoke about.
As Christians, you know you cannot be possessed by demons when you have the Holy Spirit living in you. You also know the strongman referred to here is you, the Christian, and the thief is Satan.
Satan will come against you with any means at his disposal, lies, accusations, being his number one weapon against Christians. The only way to stay above the accusations is to live your life in such a way that the accusations can’t stick.
Even those who aren’t Christians will recognize you are a Christian by your lifestyle. They will be the first to defend you against false accusations from those who don’t know you.
The woman who spoke up was not a follower of Jesus, just a certain woman who understood what he said, and called him blessed. Jesus looked at her and replied it was better to hear what God said, and keep his Word.
Have you been unjustly accused or taunted for your beliefs? You’re in good company. So was Jesus.
Let’s pray: Father, let your Word go deep into my soul so that no accusation from Satan will find ground. Help me live my life in such a way that people who don’t know you, will know I belong to you. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.

It is a horrible feeling to be falsely accused.
