Why do people Gossip??

I am always wondering why do people likes to gossip other people? Me, I dont go out of the house very much, as I am working homebased. But still I always hear people talking in my back and I dont even know them very much. That is why I realized people tend to care more about other's stuff's but did not even bother to take good care about theirs.

I totally agree with you. People take interest on others life but if you carefully see their life is not perfect. They make fun of others but their life is full of complications.

I hate this attitude of people. There're so much to talk about. And, if they find some faults with us, they should have the courage to say it on our face.

I was thinking about how my family talks about me behind my back. I always hear the famous "he said/she said" from others whom they have talked to about me. That is probably why they never visit me. In my presence, they'll have nothing to talk about as I am always the topic of their conversations.

Hahahha i have the same question and i think i know the answer, they gossip because they are not busy. When you use your time in productive ways, i dont think you still have time for unproductive things.

I don't know WHY people gossip. But I'm sure they KNOW that it's wrong and hurtful. Whatever their “reason” I'm sure the world would keep turning if they didn't do it! If they don't believe that, then they should try an experiment. STOP GOSSIPING and see if the world stops turning. (OK. I'm done. No more preaching. )

"People like to talk about things they notice from others because it's more interesting than talking about their own lives." This is what my professor told me when we talked about gossiping years ago and it stuck with me.
