Luke 12:22 And he said unto his disciples, Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat; neither for the body, what ye shall put on. 23 The life is more than meat, and the body is more than raiment. 24 Consider the ravens: for they neither sow nor reap; which neither have storehouse nor barn; and God feeds them: how much more are ye better than the fowls? 25 And which of you with taking thought can add to his stature one cubit? 26 If ye then be not able to do that thing which is least, why take ye thought for the rest? 27 Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 28 If then God so clothe the grass, which is today in the field, and tomorrow is cast into the oven; how much more will he clothe you, O ye of little faith? 29 And seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind. 30 For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knows that ye have need of these things. 31 But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you. 32 Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom. 33 Sell that ye have, and give alms; provide yourselves bags which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens that fails not, where no thief approaches, neither moth corrupts. People worry they will not have enough to take care of their daily needs. They hoard so they will not run out, fearful it will be stolen from them. Jesus told his disciples not to worry because God would take care of everything in their lives, their food and clothes. He told them to open their hands to give to the poor, and God would give them everything they need for their lives. He told them it was God’s pleasure to give it to them. As Christians, you have many opportunities to give, yet how often do you keep your checkbook closed because you are afraid you won’t have enough to meet your needs? Jesus told the people to give and it would be given to them. Luke 6:38 Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again. (KJV) God told his people to test him in the area of their finances. Malachi 3:10 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, says the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. Deuteronomy 28:8 The LORD shall command the blessing upon thee in thy storehouses, and in all that thou set thine hand unto; and he shall bless thee in the land which the LORD thy God gives thee. Psalm 37:25 I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread. (KJV) It is God’s good pleasure to give you everything you need. Philippians 4:19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. (KJV) It isn’t according to what you do or don’t do. It’s God’s good pleasure to supply you with everything you need according to HIS riches in glory by Christ Jesus, his Son. When you open your hand and trust God to take care of you, you will see God’s immeasurable supply of everything you need. He takes care of the birds and beasts. He will take care of you too. Let’s pray: Father, help me open my hand to those in need. Let me be your hands and feet to the nations who need to know how much you love and care about them, that you will supply everything they need. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.
