Do you have regrets about something you always wanted to do, but probably never will?

For me, it's probably quite a long list, but my chief regret is that I never made enough effort to get to play cricket!
When I was at school I was simply not allowed to play. I made the mistake of being out first ball during my first games lesson at age 11 and was promptly sent off to play rounders instead, while the games master concentrated his efforts on those boys who showed immediate promise.
I tried again when I got to senior school, but the same thing happened again, and likewise when I got to University.
I have played in four cricket matches during my life and have yet to score a run - which has always been my ultimate ambition. Attempts to join a cricket club always began with being asked about what experience I had, to which the answer was always "None"!
So, despite being fascinated by cricket and loving to watch other people play, opportunities to do so myself have been just about zero and - to be frank - I gave up trying long ago.
Maybe I should have tried harder, but this will always be a huge regret to me.

I'm average at any sports and so never had any ambitions in that area.
I'm trying to think of any regrets at not doing something and nothing comes to mind and so the answer is no. I have no regrets about anything. I always did what I wanted to do, good and bad, and learned to be happy along the way.

But you have at least played cricket like any self respecting Englishman!

Oh that is sad. May be if you had not opened, you might have scored runs. Moreover it is practice that makes a batsman or a bowler perfect - be it Alastair Cook, Tendulkar, Virat Kohli or even Don Bradman.
Well I wish to go and watch a cricket match at MCG Melbourne one day. This wish is not fulfilled as yet but could be fulfilled one day perhaps.

I didn't say I opened! This was just part of a games lesson - thrown in at the deep end without any coaching in advance. I was clearly judged not worthy of being given any coaching!
I had lots of fun mucking about with friends - bashing a tennis ball all over the place - but not in proper cricket matches.

@indexer so you had aimed to be a batsman or a bowler or an allrounder like Ian Botham or Flintoff ?

Are there any cricket trials in England, where folks can show their batting, fielding or bowling skills to a group of selectors?

As for cricket I used to play with tennis or plastic ball at home, school or college. I once took 3 wickets for 8 runs in a match and my highest score was 14 runs in 8 balls with a six and a four.
