Biased Commercials

Is it just me or does it seem like the commercials for joining the military are focused on blacks and Latinos? I noticed it just recently. I could be wrong, but it seems like that's what they mostly show in the private one-on-one family moments in the ads. I respect the military but I feel some kinda way towards pushing only certain people to join.
Marketing is about targeting certain people for sells. But alot of the ads that are pulling towards a certain ethnicity tend to get on my nerves. In my opinion, some can be very stereotypical and offensive.

I come from a military family. I am a proud Air Force Brat.
my daddy served for thirty years. I loved growing up with all races of people. I rarely see commercials anymore, so I haven't noticed .

@Tampa_girl7 Alot of people don't seem to watch commercials anymore. I only watch when I'm multi-tasking or something. My father is a veteran.

@TishaMears let's just hope the people who will join the army will do it wholeheartedly

@lady1993 I don't have anything against anyone who wants to join the military if it's a good fit for them. But I do agree with you. If their heart isn't in it to do it then I don't believe they should be there and there should be an easy way to leave. That is also the problem. Once you join and if you make the decision that it's not for you, it's very hard to get out. You can get arrested and go to jail for going AWOL. And now I heard that I possibly wanna bring back the draft.

@lady1993 It's both encouraging them with praise to join the military. I wouldn't have a problem with it if it also showed more other types of races. But I don't feel it's so. Even though I respect the military, I have issues with them pushing anyone to fight mostly unnecessary wars. The people who fight in wars are mostly collateral damage to the "powers that be"

I realy havent noticed this. There used to be segregated, with women being the last to be discriminated against.I'm not sure when racial segragatiin ended, but there are pictures of Elvis Presley in the army stamnding in line with black recruits..But currently I have seen commercials with any gender and any race.

@Aquitaine24 Ok. so it could possibly be just me. I've been more sensitive than usual when watching things due to the current social climate we're in now.

I don't recall noticing any bias in commercials that I've seen lately...but that could just be the fact that I haven't SEEN any commercials lately.

@TishaMears When I DO watch something, it's most often Netflix, but I really don't even watch much of that at the moment. Too many other things to occupy my time.

@SophiaMorros I totally understand. I gotta stop watching so much tv. I think I would do better but I'm addicted to it. It sometimes inspires me for other things.

It may come off as 2 ways, them encouraging only the colored races to join or praising them for joining?
