Day 66
Luke 16:1
Luke 16:1 And he said also unto his disciples, There was a certain rich man, which had a steward; and the same was accused unto him that he had wasted his goods.
2 And he called him, and said unto him, How is it that I hear this of thee? Give an account of thy stewardship; for thou may be no longer steward.
3 Then the steward said within himself, What shall I do? For my lord takes away from me the stewardship: I cannot dig; to beg I am ashamed.
4 I am resolved what to do, that, when I am put out of the stewardship, they may receive me into their houses.
5 So he called every one of his lord’s debtors unto him, and said unto the first, How much owe thou unto my lord?
6 And he said, A hundred measures of oil. And he said unto him, Take thy bill, and sit down quickly, and write fifty.
7 Then said he to another, And how much owe thou? And he said, A hundred measures of wheat. And he said unto him, Take thy bill, and write fourscore.
8 And the lord commended the unjust steward, because he had done wisely: for the children of this world are in their generation wiser than the children of light.
9 And I say unto you, Make to yourselves friends of the mammon of unrighteousness; that, when ye fail, they may receive you into everlasting habitations.
10 He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much.
11 If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches?
12 And if ye have not been faithful in that which is another man’s, who shall give you that which is your own?
13 No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
How do people see you? Do they see you as honest or dishonest?
Jesus told the parable of the unjust steward. He was dishonest in the dealings of his master’s household, and was fired from his position. Before he left his master’s employment, he called all the people who owed his master and told them to write out a portion of their debt and called it paid in full. Though he was unjust, he acted in wisdom.
Jesus showed that the people of the world act with more wisdom than the people who are faithful to God.
As Christians, you need to learn the lesson of the unfaithful steward. You will have business dealings with the world, and need to be as fair in your business with those who don’t know Jesus as Savior and Lord, as much as you show fairness to those who know him. However, you need to keep yourself free from running after the unfruitful business dealings of the world. You can’t serve the world and God.
Matthew 6:19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:
20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:
21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. (KJV)
You need to be people of integrity and honest in everything you do, so you will not give a mixed message to the world.
Let’s pray: Father, help me be fair in everything I do. Let me be a person of integrity, honest in business, and give you the glory for all I accomplish through you. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.

honesty is the best policy. although we all should be honest, there may be some circumstances that we lie in order to protect others.
