I woke up with Elvis.

Good morning friends. This morning I woke up early. Carolina, my eldest granddaughter will come for lunch today. So I turned on the TV thinking of half watching a rerun while I read the news. But there was, and is, a wonderful documentary about Elvis on TV. Yesterday I watched a documentary about Sinatra but that was interesting. I learned about a great singer but the strings of my heart were untouched. With Elvis is is different. Elvis was the idol of my youth. From the time that my father took me to the cinema when I was 12 or 13 to see Jailhouse Rock, through all those songs that had to do with important parts of my life, all sung with that wonderful, rich voice he had, he got into my own self. He was not a singer only, he was part of me. I decided to turn on the dishwasher so that I would not feel that I wasn´t doing anything. There could not be any guilt attached to watching Elvis, suddenly alive thanks to videos and films. The documentary, just in case you want to see it is called "Elvis Presley: The searcher"

Me too. I never called my loved husband "my love" in English, but Elvis was "Elvis my love"

Elvis was my favorite too. And like you...it was not just the music. He touched me deep in my soul, and his voice was so mesmerizing that it brought me to tears; especially when he sang ballads. I was fortunate enough to see him twice, before he passed away.

He did not give concerts outside the US so I could not see him alive. But I have seen him on TV. He was bigger than life.
