Ever Met a Celebrity Accidentally?

Well I suppose saying you “met” the celebrity is sort of misleading. Have you at least come close enough that you recognized the person and went “OH! OH! That's so and so!” (Whatever their name is.)
When I was 14 years old I went to New York with my big sister, I kept seeing celebrities in various places. Walking down on street. On elevators. Whenever I tried to point them out to my sister, by the time she looked they had disappeared. Just that fast! My sister told me to “Stop making stuff up!” Honest! I was not making it up. I actually saw them. Of course, it's very easy to spot a celebrity in New York New York. I mean. Come on. It's New York!
But in Miami, Florida, my home town? Yes Beyoncé does own a condo on Brickell Ave and Gloria Estefan has a beautiful home in Miami Beach and the Gibbs brothers (The Bee Gees) own property in North Miami and even used to sometimes give free concerts in the public park for their neighbors. But have I ever seen any of them? NO!!
My husband accidentally met Don Johnson. They were shooting a scene from “Miami Vice”. My husband was in the area because he came to pick me up from work. The place where they were shooting was near to my job.
Listen to this story.
My husband came too early to pick me up from work. But since he didn't want to go home, he parked the care and decided to go for walk. He sees a bunch of people but that's not what he really noticed. He noticed there was a food stand set up and it looked like people were going there to get something to eat. He was kind of hungry so he approached the place and asked if he could but a hot dog. The person serving said “This isn't for the public. It's only to serve the actors.” My husband was confused. He asked “Actors??” This guy comes and stands right next to my husband and says “Oh! Give the guy a hot dog!” My husband turns to the side to see who's talking and to his surprise … he exclaims: “Hey! Don Johnson? How you doing?” Mr. Johnson laughs and casually remarks that he's fine. The lady serves my husband the hot dog and that was the end of the encounter. When my husband picks me up he tells me what happened and what do you think my reaction was? “Aw! You just made the up!!” LOL.
I'm at work the following day as I recall and my co-workers remark “Hey! They're filming 'Miami Vice” nearby. Want to go see?” I'm thinking to myself 'Unbelievable! My husband was telling me the truth!'
So I go home and say to my husband: So you really did see Don Johnson huh? Did you get an autograph? Of course, you can guess his response. “Duh! Uuhh … No?? I didn't think about it.”
I'm like: “You're that close a celebrity and you don't think to get their autograph?? Who does that??!!”

Yeah, and it's embarrassing. I saw Joe Vitale walking toward me (see, his name means nothing to you) and I called him and talked to him for a couple of minutes. I totally ignored the man who was with him: Graham Nash.

@cmoneyspinner — I’m pretty sure Vitale hasn’t let Nash live that down.

BTW, Joe Vitale is a drummer who has worked a lot with Joe Walsh. He co-wrote “Rocky Mountain Way” with Walsh.

Yes, I've met a couple! I was going into a gym and this man was coming out and so I held the door for him. I looked at him wondering if it was him and he smiled at me and kept going. I met world champion wrestler Edouard Carpentier

One of my cousins saw David Janssen at the airport. He was so shocked that he forgot his name. But he tried to point him out to us. He's pointing in a direction and we look but we don't know what we're supposed to be looking at. He's trying to get some words out of his mouth but we don't know what he was trying to say. Finally he yells out … ”It's the Fugitive!” We all look but all we saw by then was the back of a man going through the gate to board a plane. LOL.
Can you imagine what other people looking at us must have thought about us? Who are these stupid kids in the airport yelling about The Fugitive?? I'm surprised somebody didn't walk up to us and ask: “Where's the one-armed man?”

I've met a few minor celebrities here and there. One was a local news anchor who was eating in the booth across from a friend and me. There were a couple of singers I met at conferences, some writers who've made the NYT bestseller list, and an actress who used to be a teaching colleague but is now starring and co-starring in Christian movies.

Minor celebrities or not, that's quite a few. I also met a news anchor woman. I used to work part time as a cashier at a local grocery store and she came through my line.

@cmoneyspinner I like Bruce Dern, especially in Silent Running. I think there is a fair bit of UK telly in the US, so there is many a familiar face

The thing I notice with everybody's comments is that nobody mentions that they got an autograph. I was actually at Disney World in Orlando, Florida and was fortunate enough to get the autograph of the late Lou Rawls. I was holding a map of the amusement park in my hand and shoved the paper through a crowd of people surrounding him begging him for an autograph. He was signing autographs so I got mine. I was about 12 years old. I lost the map! But I have the memory.

Yes I saw only one celebrity very closely and other one in a drama with a make up. But I had a bad luck that I was not able to get their autograph at least.
