Big Food Faux-Pas

I had made a pork loin the other night, with potatoes, onions, and cauliflower. There was this BOGO deal on the pork at Publix, so I decided to take advantage of it.
I made it slightly different, thinking it was going to taste like a pork chop. I did not brown it, so that might have made the difference, and reason I could not get it to taste like pork. Not sure. It was not bad, but it just did not have the flavor I wanted it to have...
Anyway... It came out okay, but not great. Was kind of disappointed. My meals usually turn out pretty good, but I guess I made kind of a food faux-pas this time.
I ended up making so much of it, and since it was not my favorite meal...I decided to re-purpose the meal. I have done this in the past with other meals, and many times the second-go-round tasted better than the first.
I got out my cookbooks to get some ideas. I thought I had found a good recipe, but had to improvise on the spices a little. I figure that it was going to be the best thing I ever made...or the worst.
Let me say...
Literally... For the first time in my entire life... I committed the worst food faux-pas that anyone could have ever done.
I have to say that this dish was so bad...I threw the entire casserole out, while it was still piping hot!!! It was so nasty tasting. If I had a dog, I would not have given it to him. It didn't even smell that great, either.
I tried eating some of it, so I would not feel guilty throwing most of it out. But after two bites...I just couldn't take it anymore. LOL
I kept thinking of all that good cheese, eggs, corn, pork, potatoes, onions, etc...Especially the eggs. I used three of them. I bought the good ones that were expensive, when Publix had them on sale for 50% off. Ugh...All of it went to waste. I would have done better if I just slapped some BBQ sauce on it, and called it a night.
I have never, ever, in my entire life, thrown something out that I cooked; unless I left it in the refrigerator too long, and it went bad. It took 60 years for me to commit the unpardonable sin in food.
My food budget is not that big, so it really pained me to do this... But I could not eat the stuff. It was really that bad...
Oh well... I brought out a can of corn-beef hash, and I am going to use a couple more eggs...and just make me a quick breakfast for dinner.
What a darn shame...

" we learn from our mistakes "might be a good excuse to take out that guilty feeling
We make small portions when trying out new recipes so they either become part of our family dishes or they are condemned to go to the " never again list"

I am usually really good at cooking. Made a few mishaps in my life, but not to the point of throwing the entire dish out while it was still piping hot! LOL

@teresatrotter haha.. I agree, it seldom happens in fact it never happened to us yet where we need to throw the whole thing while still hot, you committed a cooking mortal sin
Anyway is it possible that the bargained pork could be the culprit? Just an idea that crossed my mind.

@louievill - I don't think so. I ate the original meal a few times, and never got sick. I just think it was the combination of ingredients.

That must have been really awful! I made eggplant parmesan one time and it was so bad, even our dog wouldn't eat it. True story. I know how you feel about wasting ingredients, though.

It was just so strange, since I never had to do this, at this extreme.

It was not the meat that tasted bad. It was the combination of ingredients.
