Day 71
Luke 17:5
Luke 17:5 And the apostles said unto the Lord, Increase our faith.
6 And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamore tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea; and it should obey you.
How many times have you asked someone to trust you, have faith in you and what you plan to do? You’re skeptical about what they intend, yet, depending on the person asking, you might put a little faith in them.
The disciples asked Jesus to increase their faith. Jesus’ reply might have startled them. A mustard seed is the smallest seed. Yet when planted, the mustard seed grows to be a large tree that gives shade to the garden and allows birds to nest in its branches.
Matthew 13:31 Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is like to a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and sowed in his field:
32 Which indeed is the least of all seeds: but when it is grown, it is the greatest among herbs, and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and lodge in the branches thereof.
So then, faith is like the mustard seed. When you apply faith to the soft ground of your heart, it will grow, and as it grows, you will see faith in action with every answered prayer, his favor, and the hope that sustains you when Satan comes against you.
Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. (KJV)
Faith is substance, and if substance, it is something you can touch and see.
What is your faith level? Consider the mustard seed, and plant faith in your heart today and watch it grow.
Let’s pray: Father, I know my faith is weak at times, and sometimes non-existent. Give me faith as small as a mustard seed, so I can watch it grow in my life as I depend on you to carry me from faith to faith and from glory to glory as I walk in you. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.
