Under what circumstances do you give someone a negative rating on mylot? I don't want to get any negative ratings so I want to know what I shouldn't do.

I think that negative ratings should be give to those who post responses that are not thought out. Too many times I get a quick yes or no. There is no detail to the response.

So if someone just answers yes or no you will give them a negative?

Thank you. I have noticed that occasionally my ranking will go down and I was just wondering if it was because someone gave me a negative rating. So I just wanted to know why different people gave out negatives.

I don't think you'll ever know if you have a negative rating because it doesn't appear on your homepage. Only the best response does, as far as I know. I could be wrong, maybe I've miss something else, but that's all I know.

I would never give a negative rating to anyone - I don't think that is fair because I wouldn't like it if I received one. Everyone has a right to express their views whether we agree or not - that is the nature of discussion.

I'll give a negative rating if someone just posts something completely unrelated to the thread like "I don't know" or "Thanks" or "whatever" when they aren't answering the question asked

well, I only give negative ratings to those who don't stay on topic, or those whose posts I simply cannot understand. I give positive ratings to those who reply with nice quality responses. If I feel the person has really made no effort, I will leave it unrated. I don't think there are solid rules for negative ratings. You need to give responses of a couple sentences, stay on topic, and you'll do just fine. It's easier to do this if you stick to topics that genuinely interest you.

I try and give every user who respond on-topic to my discussions positive ratings. Sadly, Ive never given any negative ratings, so Im not sure why one would give one. Have a nice day!

Guess maybe I'd give someone a negative rating if their comment was abusive or insulting someone, but I haven't yet. Maybe if people gave negative ratings to topics that get posted over and over again that would discourage folks from doing so, but I wouldn't want to be the one to start that.

i rate a response negative if the poster has made a crude comment or a nasty uncalled for comment that may cause offence to either myself or others who wish to reply or have replied in my posts

I usually not give any negative response, if there are discussions I dont like, just skip them, I like to give positive ratings to those discussions that I respond to and to the reply I recieve in my discussions, If there be reply that dosent deserve any positive rate I just leave them with no rating.
