Happy Monday y’all! I just finished this book a week or so ago and have been trying to post reviews for the good ones i read, just for fun. Plus I have arrived at the dollar store ten minutes before they open so I need to kill some time. I enjoyed this memoir of a firefighter who works in the busiest district in New York City. I have been trying to diversify in reading and I enjoy reading about the first responders. Especially firefighters and EMts since it seems like they get less attention. This book is good. It’s all about Smith and the different calls he goes to, both medicals and fires, the unique people he works with, and of course attempting to balance his kind of work with his home life, having a wife and children. He truly does find firefighting his calling and it shows in his writing, the passion. Some of the medical and fire calls are hard to read and are heartbreaking. Some of his co workers have passed away fighting fires. Smith also talks about his attempt to deal with the emotional aspects of the job. I would totally suggest it and it gives me such high respect for firefighters and what they do. Have you read this one or anything about firefighters? Or, what are you reading these days?
