Monarch butterflies and marigolds are traditional elements of the holiday, so I've decided to include them in this piece. The painterly effect wasn't part of my original vision, it was just a placeholder background that really complimented the work so I ran with it
Not that it matters to the viewer but during the process of doing this one, I discovered a really efficient way to generate rapid prototypes for the Catarina makeup which I will be using from now on. Turns out you can take the boy out of software development but you can't take the software development practices out of the boy...
