Along with some of the great places in town that I haven't visited (yet), I'm also looking as the sites in town that I have seen. Oh, here's a shock on the list today. Every city has one, and here's ours. #9: Louisville Zoo Our state zoo is a great state zoo. Seriously, on the surface, it's a zoo. Some people aren't too keen on zoos: seen one, seen 'em all. I've been to enough zoos to know that's not true. While the Louisville Zoo isn't all that big, in the grand scheme of things, it's quite unique. We have a "Gorilla Forest" with various primates, the "Glacier Run" for polar bears, reptiles, lions, and tigers, and bears, oh my! The zoo is open all year, and they have events for each season. During October they have a "World's Largest Halloween Party," and in December Santa is there. There's a train that runs through the zoo as well. It's quite hilly, so it may be problematic for people who have strollers or wheelchairs. Overall, though, the Louisville Zoo is a fine place to spend some time with nature. If you get to the City of New Orleans, the zoo there has a swamp section with an albino gator.
