TV Deaths that actually upset me. #2: Keith Scott "One Tree Hill"

This was actually the first episode I remember ever watching of the show. Or at least it was the episode that was responsible for me starting at the beginning at watching the whole show. Keith Scott was the brother of Dan who was the main "bad guy" for the first several seasons of the show. Unlike his money hungry brother, Keith was a down to earth, kind and compassionate guy who was the father figure in his nephew Lucas' life. Upon hearing that there is a shooter in the school that both his nephews attend, he goes in to try to speak to the shooter, who he discovers is Jimmy Edwards. When he speaks to Jimmy and tries to convince him that everything will get better, Jimmy says he's sorry and shoots himself. Later when Dan comes in, he shoots Keith because he believes Keith is the one who had tried to kill him in an earlier episode by setting his car dealership on fire. It was a sad scene to watch unfold, the first time I saw it strictly because of the subject matter. The next time I watched it I was more aware of who the characters were and it wa sad because this fictional town that I watched every week had lost on of its best characters. Keith's ghost comes back a couple of times, and actually makes a heartfelt appearance to the man who shot and killed him, his brother Dan later in the series.

I only watched One Tree Hill the first season or so. Craig Sheffer played Keith.

This was season 3. I think. I'm pretty sure it was season 3. Yep, he's been in a ton of other stuff too.
