Day 79
Luke 18:31
Luke 18:31 Then he took unto him the twelve, and said unto them, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of man shall be accomplished.
32 For he shall be delivered unto the Gentiles, and shall be mocked, and spitefully entreated, and spitted on:
33 And they shall scourge him, and put him to death: and the third day he shall rise again.
34 And they understood none of these things: and this saying was hid from them, neither knew they the things which were spoken.
Have you spent time with a friend or group of people and when you left, you had no idea what the conversation was about?
Jesus told his disciples about his upcoming trial and death. Yet they didn’t understand what Jesus said to them, and they didn’t ask questions for clarification so that what he told them remained hidden from their understanding.
As Christians, you know what Jesus referred to and what he faced in a few short days. Yet, when you became a Christian, you needed someone to explain what Jesus said. It wasn’t clear for you either.
Jesus’ disciples failed to ask questions of the most important event in Jesus’ life, his death and resurrection. No one had risen from the dead before on their own. Jesus had raised Lazarus and the son of the widow from Nain, and they were familiar with the account of Elisha raising the boy to life, but they had not known anyone who was tortured and rose without help, so they didn’t understand and they didn’t ask questions.
When you don’t understand, ask. Don’t appear to know what someone is talking about, and remain in ignorance. What you don’t understand could be the most important event or purpose in your life. Get clarification. When you do, everything in your life will come together, and you will be able to carry out the purpose in your life.
Let’s pray: Father, help me ask questions when I don’t understand what people or you tell me. Give me clarification when I struggle with instructions. Let me know you will guide me into all truth, so I can do what you called me to do. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.
