TV Review Dr Who The Tsurangi Conundrum

Spoiler alerts Though it was the weakest episode of the series so far, I still enjoyed it. Plot wise, the TARDIS crew are knocked unconscious by a sonic mine explosion on an asteroid rubbish tip the Doctor is exploring for no given reason. They are rescued and healed on a hospital space-ship, but the ship has picked up another passenger too, an indestructible gremlin-like entity that eats metal and energy, this proving capable of eating the entire ship. Worse, the planet the ship is heading to threatens to blow up the ship so the creature can’t get loose on its surface too. The Doctor leads the fight to get the creature stuffed full of anti-matter and blasted out into space again. There were many flaws though. How did the Doctor and her three human companions survive the mine blast at all at point blank range? Companion lite, having to give half the cast a largely unconnected sub-plot. The pregnant man story was funny though. I Quite liked the space gremlin, which was too insufferably cute to be scary though its defeat wasn't really the anti-matter but the being tipped out of the airlock - the drop kick up the corridor was funny. The Sonic rebooting was rather too convenient, as was it being spat out as the creature clearly ate everything else fully. The spaceship design was lovely to look at throughout. The faithful android seemed to be an extra from Prometheus. The death of the pilot lady was sad but rather superfluous - they had beaten the danger and her partner could have flown the ship without endangering his health. Not a great episode but entertaining enough. Arthur Chappell

I couldn't get into the revival and haven't watched since before David Tennant left. I rather miss the good old Doctor's

The gremlin was so cute. I like all of the Dr Who shows. I did not think I would like a female Dr Who but she is good.
