TV Deaths that actually upset me. #5: Cotton Hill "King of the Hill"

Let me preface this discussion the same way I have the four before it, if you haven't made it through the show or don't like spoilers then don't read any further. Okay now on to the real meat of this post. To those of you who know me, know that King of the Hill is one of the favorite shows here at our house. We own several seasons on dvd and quote the show a lot. Cotton Hill is the main character Hank Hill's father. His shins got blown off during the war, making him shorter than when he left for the war. He is generally a pretty nasty person, hates Peggy with a passion for most of the run of the show, and really doesn't show compassion to anyone except for in really rare moments. In the season twelve episode called "Death Picks Cotton" He climbs up on a grill table at a Japanese eatery and among other things swallows a shrimp, which he is allergic to. He is taken to the hospital and has esophagus problems, severe burns from the table, and torn ligaments. After suffering a heart attack, and the doctors discovering he has four rusty bullets in his back and heart he hangs around long enough to torture his son and daughter in law just a little bit longer. Peggy, his daughter in law is the last one to see him. On a show that was usually known for its comedy, this death showed a more serious side even while having moments of comedy throughout. In a later episode Hank fulfills a list of Cotton's rediculous last wishes. Which is just a way for Cotton to humiliate his son even from the grave. Did you watch this show? Do you remember the shinless angry old man dying?

@JohnRoberts That surprises me. It seems like your humor. I've never seen the whole thing through either. But it's on Hulu now, so I bet I will get through them all eventually.

I don't watch it with any regularity, but I'd see episodes every now and then when I'd go over to my aunt's house. She'd watch it a lot.

Its a good show. I've always liked it more than The Simpsons.
