13th November - Chhat Puja Festival in India!!

Hi mylotters. As you all know India has lot of Festivals which are celebrated throughout the year. Today 13th November is a "Chhat Puja" Festival. Its an ancient Hindu Vedic Festival. The Chhat Puja is dedicated to Sun wherein people worship the rising and setting Sun. It doesn't involve any idol worship. The rituals of the festival are rigorous and are observed over a period of four days. They include holy bathing, fasting and abstaining from drinking water, standing long periods of time in water. Generally more women participate in this festival as compared to men. The people from Indian states of Bihar, Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh celebrates this festival. Moreover, the people in Madhesh region of Nepal too celebrate it.
