An Atheistic Bible Study Of The Gospels The Parables The Friend At Night

Also known as the Importunate Neighbour parable, this is another parable exclusive to Luke’s Gospel. He shares more than the other Gospel authors. Luke 11:5-8 If you go to a friend’s house at midnight to beg him for three loaves of bread because you have received an unexpected guest who needs your hospitality the man you have just woken up may be unco-operative. He might tell you that he has just got his wife and children peacefully to sleep and he may close the door on you. However, repeated requests for assistance will encourage him to see your need and he may eventually give you the bread, because he will see you are a neighbour and friend in genuine need. This is the worst of all the parables. The message I that persistence pays off, and the theme is not giving up on praying as sooner or later God will answer. The reality is that even knocking neighbours out of bed once is likely to anger them, and knocking again at various intervals over the night won’t make them any happier or more sympathetic to your needs. It might actually end the friendship, possibly violently. As to God, if he knows your prayer for help is genuine, he is being mean in not helping you right away, rather than keeping you waiting and getting more desperate. God shouldn't even need your prayers to ee what you need anyway, if he is omnipotent as claimed. Youtube Janice Joplin – Mercedes Benz Arthur Chappell

yes right, in my opinion, indeed we may despair both in god, and we also have to be sure that our prayers will be granted by God, even though it takes a very long time, because God is testing us so that we are always patient
