Diary Tuesday 13th November 2018 Not much going on today. It was the local community centre discount near sell-by date food lucky bag grab day, and my random food bag was not bad, some pasta, frozen steaks, oranges, etc. I had to renew my weekly bus ticket too. Diary Wednesday 14th November 2018 A voluntary work day, signing students up for a special day of lectures and talks with guest speakers in social work and pharmacy. I just helped keep a register of who signed up to each course. We were given a great buffet meal at lunchtime and I got to bring a lot of he spare food home with me afterwards. I got a strange phone call nviting me to an interview for work with he post office. I have applied to the post office but not through this particular agency. They claimed they could get past most of the tedious application processes to start me today which I (rightly) guessed was nonsense. I agreed to go to the interview. It takes place tomorrow morning. Diary Thursday 15th November 2018 The interview was rubbish, and consisted of filling in lots of forms, some of which asked impertinent questions such as the name of my landlord. I declined to sign the optional request to be opted out of the 48 hour maximum working week. This is a law that is supposed to allow employees to opt out of the reccomended maximum number of working hours undertaken any given week, but many employers and agencies won't hire staff who decline to sign it. Some companies illegally pressure staff to opt out of the protection clause and then make them work twelve hours a day or longer.
