Thanks to a myLotter (Miketagz) celebrating a birthday the other day I'm having a good time looking at my favorite albums from the year he was born: 1986. Man, what a great year for music! In fact, 1985-87 produced some of my favorite albums! But I'm sticking with 1986, and here's the next album on the list. #8: Blood & Chocolate - Elvis Costello Well, he had to be on the list. After all, he released two, count 'em, two albums in 1986 (the other being King of America), and the other one could just as easily be here instead. Napoleon Dynamite!! (That's one of Costello's pseudonyms....you can see part of the words on the front cover.) What a one-two punch Costello unleashed on the world in '86. This album really made me recall the first time I heard Costello in 1977, which is why I give it an ever-so-slight edge over King of America. Seriously, though, there were a lot of people who probably wish they could have released one album half as good as either of them! Blood & Chocolate Recorded by Elvis Costello Produced by Nick Lowe and Colin Fairley What do we care if the world is a joke?
