I had to contact an Ebay Seller

I ordered two pairs of Leggings off of ebay a week or so ago. It did seem as if they were a bit delayed in shipping but I chalked that up to Veterans Day and perhaps the seller not getting them sent out right away. Either way, I wasn't overly concerned about it. I received one pair in the mail the day before yesterday. I had noticed on ebay that the listing said "Package 1 of 2" so I figured they were packaged separately. As I said, I received one the other day, and I assumed I would receive the other pair yesterday. I didn't, so off I went to check ebay. The same tracking number was offered for both items though the items were packaged separately. I shot an email off to the seller and they've responded. Essentially, because of the weight, the seller sent them separately. That's fine, but what I had asked the seller is if they had been given another tracking number because only one was listed on ebay and I have only received one. They had also said that I should receive the other pair soon. I hope I do. If not, I"ll try to escalate things through the postal service first and ebay and the seller second. Have you ever had trouble with an ebay order?

Only once. The seller said that the item was a specific size and when I got it, it was a different size. We settled the problem ourselves. As a seller, I only had one problem. I sold an unopened package of printer ink. The buyer contacted me and said that the cartridge in the package was not what the box said. So I just sent him his money back. He offered to send the cartridge back, but I told him not to bother. He did give me a really good feedback!

This will be my first problem, and I hope it doesn't actually turn into a problem. I only buy from sellers that give a size chart or the option for the exact size I need. I've seen too many that I liked only to find it says "one size". I'm sorry, but in pants, there is no "one size". I don't know that I will ever sell on ebay, but I figure if I do I'll make sure to use bold print and probably repeat myself several times. There are some who don't read the entire description or miss something purely by accident. Off the topic a bit, I ordered an old CD ROM game a few yeas ago. It was one that I played when I was a preteen and was supposedly supported by an older version of windows that I just happened to have. I went to load it up and it didn't work. The seller gave me my money back and I offered to send the cd rom back but they said not to bother. I ended up giving it to goodwill.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I try to give as many item specifics as I can, and lots of pictures.

@cindiowens Always the best way. I've seen some things at my local goodwill recently that I thought I could flip on ebay but I didn't bother to get them. It was a set of old milk bottles (though I probably would have kept those for myself) and about 12 or so shot glasses. I've even seen some Ruby Red collection from Avon at goodwill. I didn't get that either, but again I would have kept it for myself.

Husband has had a couple of problems as a seller, both resulting in items returned and monies refunded because eBay ALWAYS side with the buyer, even when it's the buyer at fault for not reading a description properly. It really bugs him.

@Poppylicious As a buyer if I don't read something carefully it is my fault and I do not ask for my money back! People need to take responsibility for what they do and reading a description incorrectly is their fault!

I can sort of understand why ebay would always side with the buyer, it must be much easier on their part. I've seen some product descriptions on ebay that use bold print, capitalization for emphasis, and even different colors so that things just won't be missed.

@ScribbledAdNauseum It may be easier, but when ALL the evidence shows that it was the buyer at fault, it isn't particularly fair.

That doesn't make much sense that each package has the same tracking number! I hope the second package arrives soon! I need to get back to selling on eBay I have been saying it for years though and can never muster up to do it.

@ScribbledAdNauseum it really is easy to list things for sale on eBay I don't know why since I quit selling years ago that I have become so phonic about listing things for sale it really doesn't make any sense. The seller should easily be able to tell you two different tracking numbers. I say contact eBay!

That's the thing, it shouldn't. I tried to ask the seller for another tracking number and they ignored the question. Well, I can't say they ignored it, but they didn't answer it. Their written english was broken. I am on hold waiting for a USPS rep, though I don't think the USPS can help with this. I will decide to either contact the seller again or contact Ebay. I ordered the items the 5th, received one on the 14th and haven't yet received the other. I should try to start selling on ebay, I've seen some things at goodwill's that I think would sell, and there are things here I have that I don't need that may sell.

@shaggin I shot them another message. Their first language doesn't appear to be English. If they avoid the question a second time, I'm contacting ebay directly. I don't think I am wrong in wanting to go ahead on this now, do you? I mean, the 5th was when I ordered it, I received one pair on the 14th.. I would think the other pair would have arrived by now. You've sold before, does it make sense to package two pairs of leggings separately?

I don't remember if I've ever had trouble with an eBay order. I kind of feel like I did, but I just can't remember. I did have to cancel one right away, but that was my fault because I had ordered the wrong thing. I hope you receive the other pair of leggings soon!

@ScribbledAdNauseum I hope you received them today, or will on Monday. I wouldn't blame you for escalating it, as it's something you paid for. It was my fault. I had ordered hair clips and realized they were the wrong size for my hair.

If I don't receive them today then I will contact the postal service. I am doubtful that they'll be able to help as I only have the one tracking number that reports that I've received the item. I hope I don't have to escalate it, but if I do then well, it's got to be done. I don't think I've ever had to cancel an item immediately after purchasing it.

@RubyHawk I order a lot of things online. When I get a little more money saved up, I plan to support some of my favorite etsy sellers and buy some things from them. Of course I also want to buy some fragrance oils and make my own products.

I've never had a problem with that ... but my friend has experienced it,   when my friend ordered something it turned out that the ordered item never came, and when my friend called and asked about the ordered item they said that the item was never ordered, even though my friend had ordered it a few days ago

@ScribbledAdNauseum yes my friend still has proof of the order, it turns out that the order did not arrive at the destination address because the one who delivered the item opened and took the order

So far, I haven't. If I don't get it tomorrow then I'll contact the post office. I doubt they can tell me anything since the package was using the same tracking number. If they can't do anything then I'll have to escalate with the seller.
