Why is Halloween celebrated so much in the USA?

I've always wondered why such a God fearing country would celebrate Halloween in a big way? Isn't it the night of Witches, Demons etc?

Celebrating Halloween goes back to beginning of the U.S. These days it isn't about celebrating the devil. It is more of a costume party. Thatis why you can be a devout Christian or Jew or Moslem and still celebrate Halloween.

You say "God fearing" When it is more a matter of convenience. In general people go with whatever the most popular thing is to avoid being ridiculed. As far as why it is soo celebrated. Big Buisness. That and it is a way to get near limitless amounts of candy. Me I celebrate in a very different manner. Candles are lit and the Altar is open to assist restless spirits into the open arms of The Goddess.

The most awesome Halloween I ever saw was during the year I live in a small, conservative Southern town. Everyone was out and about in costumes - it was great. And honestly, I see no contradictions.

Maybe because you can make a lot of money from it. Companies make millions on candy/decorations. But people enjoy it because it's fun, halloween has lost it's meaning though (like christmas), people just dress up,get candy. It's not as traditional but it doesn't really matter....I LOVE halloween...I live in Canada and it snows right on the day of halloween, which sucks a lot..

I don't think just because you let your kids get dressed up and get candy, that has anything to do with God, I mean, you are not hurting anyone and I don't think God minds as long as you are not doing terrible things.
