TIME- SHARE - is it ideal? worthy? Is it still popular?

I used to work as a telemarketer for a time-share concept ages ago. We were selling the concept to a class of people the so-called rich and famous or at least those who can afford to give their family an annual vacation galore. The marketing strategy we used then at least was effective because we were able to sell the concept to investors. I am no longer in this field for almost two decades, am just curious is it still popular?

My brother has one or two, and we were invited to visit some, but decided they were not for us.

They do still try to sell you time shares here or at least especially while going to resorts on vacation in Mexico I have noticed.
