Audio books - Changing Narrators

I used to read loads, the year before I had my son I read 40 books, since he was born 4 years ago I have probably read less than 10. However I currently commute an hour and a half each way to work 4 days a week so I have 3 hours in the car each day where I can listen to Audio books.. I started off just listening to academic and self help style books but have recently started listening to fiction. I listened to the All Souls Trilogy by Deborah Harkness which starts with the Discovery of Witches. I absolutely loved, the narrator was Jennifer Ikeda and she was brilliant, really easy to listen to and she did a great job of the many accents and voices in the book. I downloaded the Time's Convert which is the next of Deborah Harkness' books and an off shoot of the all souls trilogy, but they changed the narrator and I really don't like the new one. Her voice is irritating and her accents are terrible. Not to mention that the characters already have certain voices to me now and changing them feels wrong. I have returned the book now as I can't listen to it. Do you like audiobooks? Does it bother you when they change narrators mid series?

I never heard of audio books. I don't think I can enjoy it.

I don“t listen to audio books. I am always hoping that those who listen to audio books are not driving a car. It happens to me too with people who talk in their cellphones while driving.

I don't think it is any different to listening to music while driving. It doesn't distract me at all, in fact I think it keeps me more alert on long drives.
