When I finished the Ghan rail trip in May I stopped in Adelaide a couple of nights to enjoy my fist visit there. The city’s beauty impressed me and one day I hope I can return to explore even further.
But, as I had less than forty-eight hours there I chose a city guided coach tour for a quick coverage of the important landmarks. One stop was the Australian National Wine Centre, the home of Australia’s national wine collection, showcasing the wine industry. South Australia has a strong wine making industry.
Interesting exhibitions informed us about winemakers and the wine-making industry.
One highlight was looking down on part of the amazing wine collection. Apparently the cellars can store up to 38,000 bottles at any one time, making it one of the largest cellars in the Southern hemisphere.
Because our coach tour allowed only thirty minutes at the venue we didn’t have time for wine tasting. However I enjoyed the short experience. The photo above shows some of the wines stored in the cellar.
