Day 97 Luke 23:26 Luke 23:26 And as they led him away, they laid hold upon one Simon, a Cyrenian, coming out of the country, and on him they laid the cross, that he might bear it after Jesus. 27 And there followed him a great company of people, and of women, which also bewailed and lamented him. 28 But Jesus turning unto them said, Daughters of Jerusalem, weep not for me, but weep for yourselves, and for your children. 29 For, behold, the days are coming, in the which they shall say, Blessed are the barren, and the wombs that never bare, and the paps which never gave suck. 30 Then shall they begin to say to the mountains, Fall on us; and to the hills, Cover us. 31 For if they do these things in a green tree, what shall be done in the dry? What do you do when faced with injustice? Do you accept the verdict or do you fight for yourself, and hope people will see your innocence? Jesus was led like a lamb to the slaughter. He didn’t fight against the injustice of what took place, but continued to teach and give encouragement as soldiers led him to Golgotha. He told the women not to weep for him but for themselves. He then told the women what would happen in coming days. As Christians, you know those days are still coming when people will cry out for the rocks and hills to fall on them. The Apostle John in the Revelation of Jesus Christ, showed what would take place during the Tribulation when Jesus would judge those who rejected him as Savior and Lord. Revelation 6:12 And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood; 13 And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casts her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind. 14 And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places. 15 And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; 16 And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sits on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: 17 For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand? It was for their salvation, Jesus went to the cross without crying about the injustice accorded him. He knew it was the will of God for him to suffer and die at the hands of the high priests who sought his death when he started teaching the people about God and what the kingdom of heaven was like. Because it was the will of God that the cup not pass from him, but he should fulfill God’s will and die for the sins of the world, he could encourage the women who followed and give them a glimpse of the world yet to come. Injustice is everywhere. You don’t need to look far for the next shooting. It’s an everyday occurrence as we turn on the news, open newspapers or the Internet. And we wonder when justice will prevail and our lives will return to normal. It won’t return to normal, not until God brings judgment on all wickedness in the Tribulation. Until then, Satan is in control. The only thing we can do is pray. Let’s pray: Father, your will be done in my life today. I see injustice everywhere Lord. I know Satan is behind everything I see and hear. Lord, let your will be done as you bring everything to the end when you will judge Satan and all those who reject your Son as Savior and Lord. Help me pray daily for people to know you and your will for them, that they may escape the coming days. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.
