He was cold and hungry, shivering in the tiny cage which he shared with his mother. He had ticks and fleas all over his body and there wasn't much space to lie down and scratch his back.. Mom was hungry too, she refused to feed him anymore.. there was no milk she growled and she pushed him away angrily when he tried to suckle. Their owner never came to feed them, it had been two days now and mom was whining, her stomach contracting with pain and hunger pangs. There were lights everywhere, the owners kids were running around eating goodies and trying out their new toys. The young boy Nick who often gave him a piece of a cookie had a new ball now. He had forgotten all about his furry friend. Little fur ball tried to call out to nick, but he was too notice him. Then those different looking people came, they looked at fur ball and his mother and promised to pay all that the owner asked for them. Then they took fur ball to a far away place, he was very afraid. The woman held him close to her chest and kept him warm . The was given a warm bath and the fleas and ticks seemed to trouble him no more .. He was given fed warm milk and good food, he ate like he had never eaten before. They put him in a bed, but he was not used to it, he found a nice tree in the house and curled under it. It had colorful lights on it he watched it as he drifted away into a sweet sleep.. Finally it was Christmas.. Christmas,. for him now.. even though it was the day after Christmas there was always food and warmth in that new home. The humans there called him Spark.
