Probably to everyone's disappointment, I present the penultimate song in my list of Bob Seger favorites. I say "to everyone's disappointment" because I'm sure a lot of people were expecting an "obvious" selection, and here I go pulling something out of left field! I'm such a beautiful loser, aren't I?
Here's today's song.
#2: Betty Lou's Gettin' Out Tonight
This is on my "rock exercise" playlist on the iPod. If you're out of shape, I don't recommend using this song. I've dropped before the vocals start!
I mentioned yesterday that there are two distinct sides of Bob Seger, and this is from that roll-the-windows-down, crank-up-the-stereo, hope-there-aren't-any-cops side. As fun an energetic as the title character (he never says what makes her so dangerous that the very news that she's "gettin' out tonight" requires someone to "grab ahold of something, hold on tight," but you can imagine....especially if you listen to "Her Strut" from side one of the album
), this is a great no-holds barred rocker that reminds everyone what rock and roll is.
And why Bob Seger's so good at it.

This is his version of a 50s rocker specifically Little Richard.
