I Got a Bit More Caught up With My Bookkeeping for the Business Yesterday and Today

While I've been around a little bit, trying to keep on top of my notif's, I've not been here as much as I have been this month. One of these days I figure I need to get serious and quit playing my three favorite games along with mylotting most of the day long. Yesterday, I continued playing my games and I mylotted some and I also got some work done as well, but I'm so far behind, I really need to make some major changes.
Today, I put away my games for the third or fourth time (in the past six months) and spent most of my day working on reconciling my business account from last July. If I kept on top of my filing it would make that task a lot easier, but I put that off along with whatever doesn't need to be tackled immediately. That means that I can't always find things needed to get the right amounts in my check register. I try to take good notes on the register the banks provide, but I mess things up too much and then have to figure out why the amounts I put in that are different than what the bank shows that the checks or deposits were for.
Also, printing out needed items has been a major chore when I use my smartphone. It used to be we had a printer where I could scan something and upload it directly to my computer to save and print if needed. Then my husband's printer broke down and rather than letting me know he was getting a new one, he just went out and bought it. This was months ago, The new one doesn't have any slots to put sd cards or flash drives into it for saving work. That means I've been trying to save what I need on my smartphone. My LG smartphone, which I bought last year was less than the best, but getting images off it to my computer was easy peasy. All I needed to do was hook the two up with a usb cord and move it from one device to the other.
My newer motorola smartphone which I got this spring, is so much better, but I have to access my photos from my google account. I also don't like the picture viewer that windows ten has as it doesn't give me as many options for changing my orientation of a page. I've been about pulling my hair out trying to print out payments to see how money was delegated and put it into the proper fields for my accountant.
I did figure something out that may work better, if I remember to do it when needing to print a screenshot or photo. And that's to use the photo editor app I have and then upload that back to my phone and google account. I also was able to print one page directly to the wifi printer my husband bought, but couldn't do more than that first one for some reason.
My kids have apple phones. I will have to find out how much easier it is to print what pics are taken on those. I may have to make that switch one day, unless I find an easier way with my android which I like other than printing pictures.

I will be doing the books soon, well, January for the tax season. I just save receipts and write down incoming.

I have a ton of receipts to go through too, but I put the all into my computer for easier processing later. I know that some people take their shoe boxes to their accountant, but mine gives me a good rate because I get it all ready beforehand. It might be more work for me but less out of my wallet.
One of these years I hope to keep up better with things. I used to order receipts and then have to put those into my program too, but I ran out and haven't ordered more yet. Instead, I fill the invoice out on my program and print those off. That saves me a step and all I have to do it put the payment in and then the deposit info rather than everything from step one.

@MarshaMusselman Oh I have my receipts organized and I figure my own and give my CPA the numbers. He would charge me a lot too if I handed him the receipts.

Are they your personal books, or do you own or run a company too?
I have employees and have to meet federal and state laws, so working with a program works best for me. Prior to the age of computer programs such as this, I did have to write and keep track of everything by hand. Back then, I only worked one part time job and only helped with the windows, so I had a lot more time to keep up.

Just the past two days, yes. Mostly the price that I could do it, I think, since I tend to out things off more than I should

Rather you than me. I hate anything to do with numbers. I think I am numerically dyslexic. I can work things out usually but if I wrote it down how I worked it out you would never understand it. My teachers were always perplexed at how I came to the correct figures because they could not work out how the hell I managed it with the numbers I did put down! I try to avoid anything with numbers! Good luck!

Figuring or doing the adding and subtracting is done by my computer program if I kept the right track of the figures that is.
I make notes, but if I would file things away more often I wouldn't have the piles of papers to go through when I can't find things. Because of people not getting me their information when i need it sometimes I'll make adjustments on taxes and catch up before the year is over with. But, again I need to keep track of where I've put my figures for that or my notes or at least what I've paid already so don't overpay or underpay.
Most years I do Jan through June at the end of June and the rest of the year in January of the next year when things slow down since we usually work until the end of December.
This year with me being off my cashiering job I've also had to take off of doing windows. I do take some employees around, but I'm not calling customers for last minute work like normal.
For whatever reason, this year I didn't do anything past April, so had a lot of catching up to do.

Thanks, I'm trying to get it all done before going back to work in five weeks. Two years ago I got it done before february because I was getting my first knee replaced then and wouldn't be able to sit at the computer to do things after surgery. If I don't get it done in five weeks it will take my longer since I could be whipped when I get home from working after so much time off.
