Well, lookie here. I’m pulling a surprise on everyone. I’m sure everyone who knows my love of the Eagles had money on this being the #1 song. It’s not Christmas Eve, it’s April Fools! Here’s a song that didn’t make the list. Bonus: Fire Lake That “fi-yer LAKE!!!” at the end that sounds like Joe Walsh is actually Don Henley. Henley, Glenn Frey, and Timothy Schmit, in one of their final acts as the Eagles before they broke up in 1980. As kings of harmony, if you wanted backing vocals you called these guys. Well, they owed Seger one. Seger co-wrote “Heartache Tonight,” the #1 hit from the last pre-breakup Eagles album The Long Run. Henley said they wrote it with him over the telephone because Seger obstinately refused to move out of Michigan. There’s no address for “Fire Lake.” It’s not like the Cowsills’ “Indian Lake,” where they give you directions. No, the only way to get to Fire Lake is “take that long-shot gamble.” Great song, but not my #1 Seger song. Fire Lake Written by Bob Seger From Against the Wind, 1980 You remember Uncle Joe:
