It is said that 'Penny wise Pound foolish' - have you ever faced such a situation?

I have faced such situations many a number of times. One which I clearly remember was that I tried to self medicate an infected wound to save doctor's fees and ended up paying a huge hospital bill since the infection had spread and almost lead to septicemia. Have you faced such situations in your life?

@dya80dya That was long time back when I fell down while playing football and had a deep wound on palm of my left hand. I just wrapped my dirty handkerchief over my hand which lead to infection. I should have immediately cleaned it with clean water and applied antiseptic over it. Once the wound got infected instead of going to doctor, I used home remedy by applying paste of need leaves and turmeric powder. I was naive then. Today I would have treated It with Povidone Iodine ointment and also take oral antibiotics like Augmentin

@amirev777 A deep wound can be easily infected. We all make mistakes. It's important to learn from them.
