Employment Agencies and Job Boards

United States

It is time for me to put my nose to the pavement (or is it your ear?) and get serious about applying to places. I applied to places over November and December but I haven't heard back from any of these places. I really do need a job though and so I am going to be working with staffing agencies and pretty much asking everyone I come across if they've heard of any job openings. One agency that is across America, and maybe in parts of Canada, is Adecco. They used to have an office in my city but the office doesn't show up on their website. Google says it still exists and so I guess I'll have to call and find out. In the mean time I am checking out a temp agency I know still exists. Is everyone keeping their fingers and toes crossed for me?

Yes I am. It is a very tough time of the year to be job hunting.

Yes it is but I am trying my hardest at it. I am sure I'll find something, just keeping positive as best I can.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I always was able to find a job very quickly but this was years ago and I sure was not picky.

@Courage7 I think that the job market as well as requirements change. Employers are looking for different things now. I know someone who seems to go through jobs like *snaps fingers* and still manages to get a new job like *snaps fingers*. I remember when I first started out working... I was told "Work Hard. When your supervisors are around.. Work Harder. Pick up any shift that needs to be picked up. Show your employer that you can and will do your job." Of course now it seems if you do that a lot of employers will use you. "Oh this person works very hard! Let me take advantage of them." I am not saying every employer does that though.

I sure will. A temp agency is a good place to start. What kind of work would you prefer?

I have worked as a banquet server, in home aide, cashier, stock clerk, and waitress. I would prefer something that is quieter work. Honestly if I could get a job in a bookstore I would be over the moon about it.

@paigea I think the libary jobs here are harder to come by. You are required to have a library science degree. I think library pages are sometimes hired but they are usually the younger generations and aren't paid very much.

Good luck, make sure you check the local employment center too..I think they might be able to hook you up with something the fastest..also, most jobs are found by word of mouth..so check with all your contacts too! Good Luck! I am in much the same boat..but I do have my tenant, friend and mystery shopping and hope to be starting some online employment soon. Have you tried Blogmutt? You are an excellent writer..and can make good money there, although they are very strict.

Oh, you know I forgot about that place. When I lived in another County I went through one of the local employment type places .I forget what it was called but it was essentially an employment center. I felt so stressed at that place, though I think it was more the person I was with then the actual process. Oh, I intend to post something on social media again today asking for job openings etc. I have heard of Blogmutt but I haven't gone so far as to check it out. I will check them out a litlte later today. I just applied to one place and I want to apply to two more.

We will pray for you. You can try to look at the career section on your prefer company. Some companies does not rely on third part for hiring. Alternatively, you may ask your friends or their friends to recommend you for the job that you like so that you can have high chance to get hire, provided you can pass all the hiring selection processes. Good luck.
