PRICKED my index

my finger

After i had my bath at 2 PM, I thought of sewing the undershirt of my son and one of my shorts, using the sewing machine. So, I successfully was able to thread the needle of the machine, and zigzag-stitched my shorts. But then, when it was my son’s undershirt that I should sew, the machine won’t move. I thought the balance wheel, that wheel at the right side of the machine, can sew the thick part of the cloth. It cannot. I tried to hold the cloth in front of the needle and foot-pedalled the machine, and it moved. The needle unfortunately pricked my right index finger nail to the skin underneath. And it bled! The bleeding and clotting time of my blood is not normal due to Coumadin intake. My blood was not very red; it was somewhat pale, and it was fluidy. So what I did was, I washed my finger under running water, splashed isopropyl alcohol, and placed band-aid. It is throbbing; maybe the blood is already clotting. I should be more careful next time.

One of my relatives once had the needle from a sewing machine went through her finger. She was in year 9 or so at the time and was sewing something in the presence of her teacher and friends. She never seems to touch any sewing machine anymore since.

oh, she developed phobia with sewing machine now? well, i had the same incidents before and my blood clotted normally. now however, the clotting mechanism of my blood is altered due to coumadin intake, so i should keep my wounds [dressed for longer periods of time.

i removed the band aid last night but the wound still bled. so i placed cotton and kept it in place with a micropore (plaster we use in the hospital).

@just4him i wrapped it again with cotton ball and micropore. i removed it yesterday morning, and it still bleeds a little, that i don't use it to press a key in the keyboard.

hahaha! oh yes, when we hot our pinky toe in to something hard, we do feel the pain. the nerves might be over-irritated with the bump.

@DianneN that is one advantage of being a nurse, because i somehow know the first aid management of some aches and pains, and wounds as well. happy new year.

i just washed it with running water and dressed it. cold packs are not placed because it did not cause hematoma anyway.
