Day 26
John 13:33-38
John 13:33 Little children, yet a little while I am with you. Ye shall seek me: and as I said unto the Jews, Whither I go, ye cannot come; so now I say to you.
34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.
35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.
36 Simon Peter said unto him, Lord, whither go thou? Jesus answered him, Whither I go, thou canst not follow me now; but thou shalt follow me afterwards.
37 Peter said unto him, Lord, why cannot I follow thee now? I will lay down my life for thy sake.
38 Jesus answered him, Wilt thou lay down thy life for my sake? Verily, verily, I say unto thee, The cock shall not crow, till thou hast denied me thrice.
What do people know about you? Is it good or not so good? We all want people to think well of us.
Jesus gave the disciples a new commandment – to love one another in the same way He loved them. When they did, people everywhere would know they were his disciples because of their love for them.
How did Jesus love His disciples? He loved them unconditionally. No strings attached. He didn’t tell them He would love them if. He loved them.
As Christians, you are to love the same way. Unconditionally, with the agape love Jesus had for His disciples and all the people who came to Him. When you do, people will notice and want to know how you can love the unlovable. You can because Jesus did.
Jesus prepared His disciples for the day when He would return to His Father’s throne in heaven. He told them they would follow Him, but not right away. In the meantime, they were to love everyone.
Do you love everyone or are you selective in whom you love? Jesus said to love everyone. When you do, people will know you are His disciple.
Let’s pray: Father, help me love everyone the same way You love me and all people. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Amen. Peter was so very human and fallible. He shows how we can find Jesus even at our weakest point. Sometimes we think we are doing well and yet Jesus sees the depths of the heart and somehow gets us to the point where we are totallly reliant on His love. Loving everyone is not easy, but with His help we can do it.

Yes, Peter is an inspiration for many fallible Christians. It's not easy, but with Jesus' help, we can do it.
Have a blessed day.

@just4him I should dig out the Peter Bible Studies I worte. One year I wrote a devotional every day. It would be good to do that again but I think here, you should have right of way, so maybe on Facebook. I may revise and republish what I wrote all those years ago.

Amen! We can love everyone if we are in the spiritual mindset and truly seeking Him. :)
