Watched two movies in the cinema this weekend

Friday my daughter wanted to watch “The Crimes is Grindlewald” movie. It was playing at the discount cinema which has tickets for $3. I invited my 15 year old nephew to go with us. We set out and 10 miles from home I realized I left my cell phone at home. Which is bad! I rarely can get anywhere without my gps! Our first stop was Best Buy where my nephew bought a power supply for the computer he is building and I recycled a bunch of electronic things. My daughter had a gift card for Barnes & Noble and my nephew had one for GameStop so those were our next stops. We headed to the cinema and I was like oh yeah I know the way but then suddenly it didn’t look right so I got off the exit only to realize it was the right way and I should not have gotten off the exit. It’s about 10 miles to get to another exit and back on the highway in another directon so I did an illegal u-turn and went back where we needed to be before I got off the exit to begin with. I took two more wrong turns but I knew the general area I was in so we finally arrived to watch the movie. I am horrible with direction I have been to that theater probably 15 times I should remember the directions better! I enjoyed the movie but my daughter wasn’t happy with it. My nephew hadn’t seen the first one so was confused. After the movie we got groceries at Walmart and ate at Burger King. Saturday I took down all the Christmas decorations except our two trees. I had to sew two new patches on my daughters jean jacket so I watched two movies while doing it. “The Fundamentals of Caring” I lloves but “The Outcasts” which my daughter recommended I watch was just okay. Today I forgot to give my daughter motion sickness medicine before we left. Thankfully she made it the 10 miles to the gas station where I bought her some. She usually gets sick if it’s not in her system a half hour before she goes anywhere. We got to the cinema to see “Bohemian Rhapsody” an hour early. We walked the street nearby to kill time. I stopped quick to find a geocache which was what you see in my photo. Then we stopped and split a large pizza for $6.99 at Dominoes. I got a text message and then a phone call from our school announcing the passing of a wonderful teacher who is my daughters friends mom. I feel so bad for the poor girl losing her mom at 14. Her mother had a massive heart attack this morning. She wasn’t very old either early to mid 40s. I have always been a huge Queen fan since I was little. I used to sit in my room as a kid listening to my dads old cassette tapes. So getting to see the movie “Bohemian Rhapsody” today was absolutely amazing and the high point of my weekend. I had the chills through most of the movie and cried in a few scenes.

@Happy2BeMe it gave me chills when I saw the previews months ago. Then it was in the theater but my boyfriend was always busy hunting on Saturday and by Sunday I would forget. He has a long vacation from work so seeing it finally went to the discount theater was perfect timing. It was so amazing. If you are a queen fan I really hope you get to see it soon!

I've not seen that movie but i saw a clip provided by Arthur some time ago. I've been listening to a bunch of oldies on youtube and I forgot how good many of them are. My brother and his wife took me and whomever was at their home one day to see Mary Poppins. I was surprised, it was very good. I'm sure I saw the original one but anytime it's come on tv in the years since I've not been interested in seeing it again thinking it to be boring. Now, I might have to look it up sometime. So, it sounds like you went back for your phone, or else maybe it was your daughter that got the text about her friend's mom? Or did you not get that text until after you had returned home from the movies and getting the pizza?

@MarshaMusselman I had a wide variety of songs I liked when I was young. I liked the modern stuff but most days I was either listening to my dad's old cassettes from when he was young or I was listening to oldies on the radio. I saw there is a new Mary Poppins movie out but my kids will have no interest in seeing it so I likely never will see it either. I did watch the original movie a few times when I was young and liked it. Friday on the way to see "The Crimes of Grindlewald" was when I forgot my phone at home. Sunday while waiting for "Bohemian Rhapsody" to start was when I got the text from my sister about my daughters friends mom dying.

@shaggin Ahh, thanks for clearing that up for me. One day that mary poppins movie will be on video and maybe you can see it later in life. If nothing else, when you have grandkids then your own kids might be more willing to see it.

What a nice weekend you had. There are a few movies we want to see before they leave the theater. I will add Bohemian Rhapsody to my list, too.

@DianneN here Bohemian Rhapsody is no longer in the regular priced cinemas. I hope you get to see it if it is still in the theaters there or if there is a discounted one near you playing it. If you a fan of Queen it is amazing to watch!

@shaggin You will not believe the theaters here. I believe there are a good 30 different movies playing. Of course I won’t see them all, but Bohemian Rhapsody is still playing. Just double checked. Thank you!

@Hannihar if I ask directons I can only remember the very first thing like “go to the stop sign” after that it slips my memory so I have to stop and ask again over and over until I get where I need to go. So a gps is way better for me. I am also awful at giving directions so if people stop and ask me I usually wind up realizing after they left that I told them the wrong thing.

@shaggin I do not use gps because I might end up where I do not need to be. I prefer asking people for directions.

@Letranknight2015 nope I was not excited at all I was mad. Last time I had to go the whole way and it was a 20 minute delay so I pulled an illegal u-turn so it was only about 5-10 minute delay this time.

@paigea “The Fundamentals of Caring” was really good and “Bohemian Rhapsody” was awesome and “Crimes of Grindlewald” I liked but “Outcasts” I didn’t care for at all. I get lost pretty much everywhere but my tiny town with a gps. My brain does not remember directions or road names or familiar signs or sites etc so I can go the same place many many times and still not recall how to get there and back home without written directions to look at or a gps.

Oh no. I'm so sorry to hear about the teacher / your daughters friends mom. I bet that'll be tough for the friend, so im glad she has a friend in your daughter who seems to be great - just like you. Glad you could see the movie today. And get that bonding time with your daughter.

@Courtlynn aww that is so sweet. She used to be closer to this girl but the girl is best friends with a girl who creates a lot of drama. Her friend acts a lot like this drama girl now so my daughter isn't as close to her anymore. The drama girl has a bad home life so I feel bad for her and it is obvious it is largely what causes her issues needing and creating the wrong kind of attention.

My young relatives are talking about the new movie Spiderman. Some already watched, some are going to go see it soon. People told me about that Bohemian Rhapsody movie some weeks ago, but at the time, I thought it was a play.
