I changed my last name to my stepdads last name when i turned 18 as he brought me up since i was 2 and my real dad is a nut.

When I was younger I didn't like my name but could never really find another that suited. Now I don't want to change it. But I know of some people who have - several times. And they create really 'out there' names. It can be annoying because they are trying to change something about themselves, but it doesn't really change anything. Or they are trying to be something they are not. They are still the same inside. Often I've seen it is because a person doesn't like something about themselves, that's the reason they want to change their name. I suppose it depends on why and whether the name fits.
