After my question of yesterday I realized it may be useful to define AR and VR.

First off, a huge thank you to the wonderful MyLot community, since joining at the end of the year, I have enjoyed conversing with many of you! AR, or Augmented reality is the combination of augmented information and a real-world object. A great example of this is the products from Astroreality. Point your cell phone camera at the object and it comes to life with information. AR is adding to the real world. VR, is the creation of a completely separate world (virtual) that allows you to interact with it. VR allows you to go places (outer space, deep into the ocean) that you wouldn't normally be able to do! Of the two I suspect AR has many more short-term use cases in the world around us. VR, will remain in the world of video games for the near term. Does this help you understand the difference between the two? Based on the descriptions above, which one do you think you would use today?

There is a great VR experience called helicopter ride. So far they have Oahu in Hawaii (US) and Las Vegas (US).

I have a lot more use for AR than VR. However, my son who does biomedical research at the nanolevel has been telling me about some VR applications that may allow him to "see" and interact with the subjects of his research - individual cells and molecules.

It is truly the future in the medical world. The VR capability of improving remote surgery requires both the VR, and 5g network capacity, but it is coming.

Thanks. I didn't know about Mylot until August. I wish I had. I could have been asking questions here years ago!
