I took down the last Nativity scene I still had up, the oldest one we have and what I kind of consider the "main" Nativity in my collection.
I't's been a bit of an "event" for several years that the top of Joseph's staff would always be broken off every year when I opened it to set it up. For the last couple of years it hasn't, which has been a pleasant surprise, I guess I or someone else used an extra strong glue on it the last time the top of his staff was glued back on.
Well, I kid you not, I was just putting him down into the Styrofoam mold that he, the Baby Jesus and Mary go into, when *Pop!* off came the top of his staff !
Oi. Guess I'll be gluing it back on next year...

As busy as Joseph is during the Christmas season, we wouldn't want him to be short staffed.
We tend to leave up at least one Nativity scene until January 6, the 12th Day of Christmas, as tradition holds that to be the day the three wise men (likely astrologers) from the east arrived with their gifts.
