Most of the world is in 2019 now, and here we are in America, bringing up the rear. Isn't that cool, though, I'm writing this in 2018 and someone's reading it in 2019! Dang flat earth.
Anyway, here's another one of my favorite You Tube channels.
#6: David Von Pein's JFK Channel
There is something about our 35th president that holds sway even five and a half decades after his death. He was our youngest president, the first Catholic president, a war hero, handsome, and the first president of the "television era" (or, more precisely, who utilized television successfully). And he was the first president we ever saw (and prayerfully only we will ever see) killed on live TV.
Yesterday I mentioned that there was a "connection" to the Mafia channel and another channel on my countdown. This is it. I have often stated that I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but I don't think Oswald shot JFK anymore than I think Lori (who wasn't even born in 1963) shot JFK. Yes, I think the mob had something to do with Kennedy's assassination (and Robert Kennedy's assassination five years later). As Was (Not Was) said in their song "11 MPH," "The CIA, the Cubans, and the underworld bosses decided that was it: they had to cut their losses." I also find it incredibly easy to believe the theory that LBJ had something to do with it as well.
If you want to know the truth, the JFK Channel doesn't delve into that all that much. Instead, the channel is filled with incredible history. There is coverage of the assassination from all three news networks as well as radio news coverage from various radio stations. One amazing clipping is a radio station that had midday recipe swaps interrupted with the news, then the next caller unable to continue because she was so upset over the news of "shots fired at President Kennedy's motorcade."
There's also coverage of Robert Kennedy's shooting after declaring victory in the California primary in June 1968.
Apart from the assassinations, there's also coverage of JFK's career (such as a 1958 video about then-senator Kennedy): as a politician (press conferences, speeches) and a person (home video footage of the Kennedys at their home in Massachusetts).
It's a fascinating look at President Kennedy's career, as well as that tragic day in November 1963, all preserved for future generations.
David Von Pein's JFK Channel
Historical videos, news broadcasts, and radio broadcasts
Exclusively about JFK and the Kennedy family
One of the many gems on the channel: Paul Harvey's post-assassination commentary:
