At night

One of my greatest fears is being alone at night or while I am taking a shower even during the day. I have PTSD from an attack at my home at night. So even when I am in the shower I am jumpy at every noise. When I am home by myself at night I leave most lights on and the tv on to drown out little common sounds like neighbors walking upstairs, the wind, etc. I I am listening to subliminal messages to try and cure this Do you have a major fear? What is it and why do you have it?

When was your attack? That is terrifying. I'm afraid of the dark and spiders. I think it's because when I was three I had a babysitter who locked me in a closet every time she watched me (3 days a week). One day, right before she closed the closet door I saw a spider. I kept imagining it being on me. I was fourteen before I could sleep without the overhead light on. Nowadays, I keep my closet light on, and the hall light on. But the hall light is mainly on so people will see in in my window and think I'm awake.

I can't see in the dark so I leave the hall light on so I can see how to get there. The other lights I leave on for the same reason you do, so people will think that I am awake. And I am allergic to spiders, but I am the one that has to kill them! My oldest son is 38 and chicken around spiders and so is my almost 22 year old daughter. Oh my! Why did your parents continue to keep that babysitter? That is horrible!!!!!!!

@dfollin There is something funny about a 38 year old man afraid of spiders! My parents didn't know she did that until years later. You know, parents go over things like if someone hits or touched you, you tell your paraents. Kids are so literal that I didn't take what she did as hurting me. My sister, who was five, knew too (she was never locked in a closet, but occasionally a bedroom), and since she didn't say anything I didn't either. The babysitter came with such good references my parents were astonished when they eventually found out.

Aww that is so sad what you went through and how it has given you PTSD I hope the subliminal messages help. I am terrified of heights but if I avoid them it isn’t bad. It’s not like how you constantly have to deal with yours. It must be absolutely awful!

I hope the messages help too! My husband used to get mad at me cause I would drive a mile down to the next light, then right and drive about 6 blocks home instead of turning on the exit ramp that was high and open, lol

@shaggin No, at the time he was ill, couldn't drive himself and just wanted to get home and rest.

@dfollin hmm well I can see that bugging him but we need to be understanding about our loved ones fears so hopefully he didn’t get too mad about it.

I have the same year when I am in the shower but nothing has ever happened to make me feel that. I fear my house being broken into in the middle of the night when I'm sleeping. I have a fear of fire even though I have never been in one.

Me too! I have a phobia about being in a room with no window so I couldn't get out for fire. I have that same fear for my family members too. And I have never been in a fire. I have never fallen in the shower but I know it can happen. I don't hear too well do I am afraid that someone will break in and I won't hear them. I am glad I am not the only one that has those same fears.

Huh, sorry for what happened to you, it seems it left you whit a big fear. I have some fears, I don't like snakes or heights, but I can manage, nothing very serious.
