It’s TIME for a Country Countdown: Tulsa Time (#10)

As threatened, I’m stealing John Roberts’ idea of songs with “time” in the title and plowing through times past for favorite songs that meet that criteria. I’ve split it into two countdowns: country and rock. That way, all you country music haters can ignore those. Here’s the first song. #10: Tulsa Time - Don Williams Yeah, gotta start with some good vocals. My all-time favorite singer is Jim Reeves, so when I compare someone to Gentleman Jim you know I have an affection for them. With that warning, I’ll tell you that Don Williams had the best voice this side of Jim Reeves. And, oh, did he know how to use it. Most of his “hits” were ballads, which highlighted his great voice. But even when we went upbeat, his voice was still fabulous. “Tulsa Time” is one of Williams’ best-known songs in a long career that began in the Pozo-Seco Singers in the late 60s and ended when Williams retired from performing, about a year before his death in 2017.
