To Err Is Human

I hate it when people say that they've "lost faith in humanity" when someone says something dumb on the internet. Like, seriously? You do realize that you are no better than they are, right? You're a human who makes mistakes and your thought process is just as imperfect as everyone else's. So why is it that when you see one person, one single, solitary person, make one single, innocuous mistake that you, yourself, are just as capable of making, you suddenly decide that the entirety of the human race is no longer worth saving?
In the same vein, I hate it when people ridicule other people for not knowing what they believe to be common knowledge. If someone doesn't know what Shakespeare's last name is, for example, that person is labeled as a fool, an idiot, or worst of all, the cause of the aforementioned loss of faith in humanity. Once again, let me remind you, that you are no better than they are. They don't know a lot of things, sure, but nobody, not even yourself, is inherently born with all the world's knowledge in your brain. You have to learn and be taught, just like everyone else, including the person you just made fun of.

You still shouldn't lose faith in humanity because of evil people. Evil people are the minority.
