Is your heart age higher than your actual age? Have you ever taken an online test to find out your heart age?

BBC has rerported that Public Health England has been urging people who are over 30 years old, to take an online test to find out their heart age and compare it with their actual age. This would help in finding out if they are at increased risk of suffering a heart attack or a stroke. If your heart age is much higher than your actual age, you are more vulnerable to heart attack and stroke. If your heart age is higher than your actual age, you will have to make lifestyle changes like quitting smoking, eating a heart healthy diet, reducing alcohol consumption and getting enough exercise, if you want to increase your life expectancy.
Public Health England says about 80% of heart attacks and strokes in people under 75 could be prevented.

My mum got high blood pressure when she was 60 years old. She went onto some medication to help her stay well. Now she is 85 years old and last April she got put in a care home. She has got dementia which began last April. I used to get lots of exercise with cycling, walking and exercise classes like Zumba and Aqua Aerobics. I stopped going to the sports centre once the summer holidays begun. In September my son went to a new school I was tired walking there and back. I missed the sale day for the sports centre. I did the on-line test and it said my heart age is 48 and I am 46 years old. I know my weight is still in the healthy scale however my weight has got higher than when I cycled, walked a lot and did the classes. I need to lose weight and in the winter it is cold outside for exercise. My bike has gone rather rusty.

@maximax8 I think you are doing good. Your heart age is only two years higher than your actual age - I don't think it's that bad But I am sorry for your mother.

Heh. I have a pretty healthy diet and I exercise more than most. But I also smoke and drink. I don't lead a Type A lifestyle, though.

It is very important to take care of your heart. I am a heart attack and open heart surgery survivor.
