I see this question asked a lot by friends of mine online. How much does the tooth fairy pay these days?
Everyone always has a different answer and some I’m surprised on how much the tooth fairy will leave a child. Currently in my house the fairy leaves a $1 a tooth. I believe that is a far price for a tooth coming out. We do have a slight increase if for some reason there is pain and suffering like for some odd reason you fall and it hit your face or the dentist takes it out she’ll bring you a little bit more. I tooth fairy doesn’t want to go broke now does she.

We did unusual money. Half dollars, foreign currency, buffalo nickels, silver dollars, and then when she lost her conjoined teeth (super uncommon) she got $2 bills

Wow that’s interesting. We do quarters and bills. Which is great because both are learning how to count money so they will count it and tell us how much it is and what it means

@fivecandles yes! That then they like to ask can we go buy something. I have to remind them of it’s not a bill we might want to wait to roll the change to make it easier to pay for something

@ShyBear88 perfect! Being able to count money is really important. When kids learn how in a way that is fun like that they are much more likely to retain the knowledge.

I would think $1 is good. Especially with families who have quite a few kids

Yes, I know a few families that have more kids then we do and when I see a high amount I’m like woo. Save some for the others especially if they are close in age. I have two that are just 18 months part so they could make the fairy go broke.

In today's economy I agree with the $1 but back in the 1960s when my teeth were falling out I got 25 cents.

25 cents is bad either. I remember getting 50 cents and my husband said he got like $5 and he is one out of 6 kids so I don’t where the cash came from. I always have change for a dollar around the house or in my wallet it’s better then an IOU. With three kids and two being close in age loosing teeth a $1 is reasonable.
