The "Odyssey" (warning: it's a long one)

Collage I made with the random photos I took on my walks today

...at least, it felt like it. Without my phone, I don't have the Lyft app, so I've been walking a lot! Well today, "a lot" was an understatement -- at least for me. I had a chiropractor appointment this morning, which I walked to. That was over five thousand steps. After that I walked back from there to the bus stop at the shopping center. I took the bus across town to the transit mall there, and then from there walked to work (which is closed on the weekends, but thankfully I was recently given a key). Yesterday I left my lunch bag and more importantly the important papers in the lunch bag--copies of pay stubs--which I needed to fill out some papers that I got from the housing place I am on the waiting list for. Actually, I had needed the pay stubs to fill out something else, but then when I got home from work yesterday, I had received a letter from the housing place wanting to know if I still wanted to be on the waiting list. When I first read the papers about the waiting list, I thought they had to be back to the housing place by today, but then I re read them this morning and they're not due until Monday, but I needed those pay stubs to fill out the other thing, too, so... Anyway, I walked into work, and looked all the places I thought I might have left my lunch bag; the refrigerator, the office-where I usually eat my lunch, the little room where we fill out our time cards--it wasn't any of those places. Then, I went back to the front door where I had come in, and there on a bench where the kids sometimes sit was my lunch bag, along with my pay stubs. So, I pulled out the paper from the housing place, took it and my pay stubs to the kid's art area, knelt down by one of their little tables and filled everything out that I needed to fill out. I stuck the filled out paper in an envelope, addressed it, then left the center, locked the door again, and hoofed it down the two or three blocks to the apartments where I had to turn in the "Yes I'm still interested in being on the waiting list" paper. Of course, the office was closed, and the little clock on the door said they wouldn't be back for another two hours. I knew there was a mail slot there, as I'd turned in papers there before. I stopped a lady coming by and asked her if she knew if the mail that went into the slot got to the office. She said yes, but it might not be picked up until Monday. That was absolutely fine, as that is when the paper was due, anyhow. So, mission accomplished, I headed back to the transit mall, caught a bus after waiting about 20 minutes, went back to the shopping center bus stop, where I ran into a couple of kids from the childcare center and their dad, going back the way I had just come, and walked the rest of the way home. All that, with the day not being quite over, got me over twenty thousand steps on my watch/step counter thingy. When I got home (glutton for punishment that I am) I took Angel for a walk. Boy, my legs are going to hurt tomorrow...

Yes, it is. They actually don't hurt too badly right now.
