Plain and simple, I am a thief. And here I am, ripping off the @FourWalls town and city countdowns by counting down my favorite songs with "Town," "City," "State," and "Country" in the title. This is the "Country" edition, and we are at #9: "Rainbow Country" by Ziggy Marley and the Melody Makers. "Rainbow Country" is a tune written by Bob Marley and Lee "Scratch" Perry, although it was not included on any Wailers albums (just to double check, I went through them, and I'm not seeing it.) It is available in an eleven volume compilation series known as The Complete Bob Marley and the Wailers 1967-1972 (Soul Adventurer, 2002.) It's also available on You Tube if interested, and was covered by the late, great reggae singer Dennis Brown. However, in 1991, when Ziggy Marley took his merry band of Melody Makers into the studio to record their fourth album, Jahmekya, they made sure to do dad's song proud, giving it a bit of a party vibe to fit the rest of the record (check out the single "Good Time" sometime. Awesomely fun. ) And since I used to own Jahmekya, Ziggy's version is the one I am most familiar with. Thus, it's what I use here. Hey Mr. Music, you sure feel good to me. What a coincidence. I heard Tomorrow People today which I have not heard in decades.

I only have a few Marley singles and not heard this one before. Mind you I have none by Ziggy

Oh man, Ziggy is awesome! If you know the kids show, Arthur, he did the theme song.

@Ronrybs - I've never actually watched it, but it's quite popular here.

And I need to point out, lest John chew me out for not doing so, that Chris Frantz & Tina Weymouth produced a couple of Ziggy & the Melody Makers' albums.
