A little hurt

Last night I made a flourless chocolate cake for my 3 years 4th Birthday Party. His birthday isn’t for a few more days. I frosted his cake with mashemellow fluff frosting. Which is very easy to make and a dairy free options.
I thought I did well on his cake. I was a little hurt when my husband’s aunt to her kids not to have the cake. Like only ice cream for them. Like a gluten free cake isn’t good enough because it’s not made with wheat flour. In my head I’m hoping she said not to them because they haven’t had dinner yet vs the cake isn’t good enough.
I’m probably just being a bit crazy since I worked hard on it and not all the kids had some. At least ice cream was an option for those that didn’t want it.

I've had lots of gluten free cupcakes and desserts over the years and they were all delicious - maybe she was worried the kids would make a fuss over it. That's ridiculous though, and pretty rude - it would make sense if the kids are allergic to something in the cake.

Yes or to at least try a bite. When people try and take a bite and don’t like it I can understand then br when you don’t it just feels rude kind of. I can also understand if someone doesn’t like cake. I’ve meet a few people that don’t like cake they are more of a donut person and they can’t do cake texture.

Thank you! I get it gluten free cakes have a different texture then most people are use it unless they eat gluten free. The taste is always good. The ice cream came with the party we had a bowling party at the bowling alley so it comes with the kids food.

I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Not worried just that they skip the cake a lot when they find it it’s gluten cake but any other birthday party the kids will eat the cake including there own no matter what the time is.
